Violence Awareness Week 2011

The Third Annual Violence Awareness Week will be held on campus starting on October 25th through October 28th. Each evening throughout the week there will be events to raise awareness over a different type of violence and how to help deal with them.

Multiple organizations have contributed to making this week as informative and helpful as possible. Links to these organizations can be found below.

Sean's Last Wish

Sean's Last Wish is an organization that speaks against hate crimes. They wish to educate the public on "how bullying, hatred, intolerance, prejudice, violence and religious beliefs can lead to senseless crimes," while seeking to raise awareness for the faults in the current laws to punish against those found guilty of these bias motivated crimes.

Prelude -- Wednesday, October 12

On October 12 from 11:45-12:15 PM we will ask that the five fraternity members and five athletes participate in the “Slap fives, not wives” campaign to help raise awareness. We will also ask people to wear purple that day since this is the day that Safe Homes will be doing their campaign “Paint the town purple."
